Were there times you really wanted to say something or do something yet you didn’t because you were worried about what others thought? I believe we all have this feeling at times and when you feel it affecting your self-esteem, your deservedness, and productivity then it’s time to take a closer look at what’s causing it and how to overcome it.
Let me use myself as an example and start by saying I lived with conditional love most of my life. I was conditioned to please people and say what they wanted me to say and because the consequences were so uncomfortable I learned to comply. Besides, I was rewarded and it felt good (I thought) when I agreed. Yet the fact is I felt a false sense of “good” and all it really did was squash my true feelings and thoughts which ultimately made me feel unworthy. My businesses and relationships were affected because I didn’t believe in myself, and each day took a toll on my true self and how I acted. It seemed I was always doing more for others than I was for myself.
This underlying feeling of unworthiness followed me throughout my life and it wasn’t until I started to really strengthen myself from the inside out that my outlook, confidence, and belief changed so I could become my authentic self. I started saying what I wanted and trusting it… knowing it was my true feeling and so it was good enough. I am good enough and matter and what a freeing notion this was to finally and truly comprehend. My anxiety went away, I was compassionate with myself, and my stress levels diminished to where I was finding peace and ease every single day.
