The phoenix icon from my logo symbolizes reinventing yourself with renewed energy and strength. I align with this because it’s what happened to me after my divorce. It meant being open to new possibilities while discovering who I really was and doing things courageously when every fiber in my body said no. It meant finding ways to tone my feelings and overcome them.
We all pull from this phoenix-type energy to some degree when we fall and for some (like me) getting over the fear of self-doubt can seem unsurmountable. Self-doubt goes many layers deep and depending on how you were brought up, your relationships with family, friends, teachers, people in authority, etc; and how you were influenced by even one thing that someone said can surface in your actions for the rest of your life.
The way you interpret what was said or done at the time, and the emotions you experience (anger, sadness, hurt, resentment, etc.) are what settle in your body and subconscious mind. Those feelings and experiences (good and bad) are what “flavor” the way you are today and affect how you act, speak and do anything.
If you know you still have these thoughts, think about how it would feel to reframe the negative experiences to something more pleasant and curb the emotions tied to them. What if when the feeling of self-doubt comes up you could feel the phoenix energy moving through you and realize “that was then and this is now?”
This powerful phoenix energy stands in a new light, a new strength, and rises above the nagging, negative, automatic thoughts that try to take you down and keep you from being your beautiful, bold, authentic self. It was when I recognized these thoughts for what they were that I was able to rise out of the ashes and take action, ascending on my journey of true greatness.
